        " I lost identity to a life partner quest "                    Akurut Elaine Patience

On the third episode of Unashamed, Elaine, a lady that has embraced the virtue of humility shares her story on identity.

Elaine works as an administration officer with Price and King. She is also part of the communications team at Tell a story Foundation Uganda.

          "Do not settle for less" - Elaine 

 Identity is an inborn affliction; something a person associates his or herself with. I call myself a very bold and courageous woman.

For so long, I thought that finding a partner would really reveal my true self. This quest led me to a journey of great pain and sorrow.

I was emotionally and physically drained. I still remember those nights I cried until my eyes could not contain the tears any more. I lost appetite for food and reached a point of giving up on my own self. I got my breakthrough moment when I attended a conference at my church that was aimed at reconnecting us to God. It was at that point that I realized my identity had to be in Christ before anything else .

I am no longer on a search for a life partner to complete me; I am already whole in Christ. Through prayers and friends, I am learning to know my worth.

To all the beautiful women out there, God loves each one of you. We were created not to settle for less but to soar above the clouds. Who cares what labels the world tries to put on you. The only thing that matters is what God thinks of you, your happiness and doing the work you are called to do.
