Start from where you are

As we move closer to the end of the month, we hope it has been running so smooth for you, if not, every other single day brings you the opportunity to try again.

More people are making a contribution to humanity:  Meet Kemigisha Phionah another Selfless woman giving hope to the vulnerable.

Kemigisha Phiona is  a 24-Year old Ugandan Citizen, God fearing , kind hearted, hardworking, a natural leader, creative, and enthusiastic.

Phionah is a leadership and possibilities Coach.  She  works with two organisations : Unicef and Trailblazers mentoring foundation  that are directly concerned with  reaching out to  children across the globe, the safety and well being of both young and old women in Uganda. She is the founder of Grace children and Women’s Foundation and a business woman who operates a  juice shop.

What inspired you to do the things you are currently doing?

I will start with the leadership Coaching. Phionah Says.

I have always loved leadership,  being a  great leader in all the academic  institutions I went to for my studies has been a big motivation for me to start coaching in order to create effective and efficient leaders.

I experienced a traumatizing moment as a young girl,  an  old man attempted to rape me thrice and I had no one to run too and share this plight since I was far from my guardians at the time.

As I grew up and saw other girls experiencing the same thing,  my heart  felt so attached to them. I drew close to vulnerable children and women out there, giving birth to Grace Children and Women's Foundation.

Can you tell us some of the activities you have done to make the lives of others better?

Having founded Grace Children & Women Foundation this year 2020, God has enabled me to reach out to women who need the services that the organization offers.

Together with the team, we have provided sanitary pads to women in diffeent communities.

We have offered guidance and counselling seesions to HIV positive young mothers who are surviving on Ugx 1000 per day.

God has enabled us to feed them by providing them with food stuff.  We are also providing them with Hand skill training like hairdressing, catering, tailoring etc.

We always meet these beautiful souls every Saturday.  On some Saturdays, the loosen up and have fun through aerobics the women do  keep fit and have a good shape.

What are some of the challenge you have faced along the way?

A number of certain authorities in the different areas where we operate from ask for a lot of money so as to reach out to the girls and women.

I have realized that there are people who always want to take the advantage of this whole process of giving back to the community.

Most people who are already well off target non profits for their own interests because they believe it is free money yet the funding is majorly for those that are less advantaged.

Since we have just started, we would love to do and give more to community but due to limited funds. We can only serve to the level of our own capability as an organization.

What are some of the lessons you have learnt that you are unashamed of sharing?

I have learnt empathy. The ability to feel what other people are going through. I really do not know how to be okay when someone is suffering.  Phionah says.

I have learnt how to believe in people because my foster father believed in me and took good care of me as though I was his own.  I have never regretted why I did not grow with  my biological parents because of how my foster parents took care of me.  This has taught me to love people and also reach out to the vulnerable.

What can you tell anyone out there that would love to do what you are doing?

You do not  have to wait for resources to accumulate for you in order to touch Lives.

Use what is available as long as God has put something on your heart that will give hope to people. Trust God to provide for your vision.

Kemigisha Phionah
Team Leader.
