Every day, a new artist comes to the scene with one good hit and after a couple of months it is no more. We ask why ?  We discovered that at times some artists lack mentors to hold their hands, walk them through the journey and back them up, they only have themselves to lean on.

Meet Collin Sserunjogi, a passionate music artist in Uganda creating a safe space for other music lovers to commune,  grow, celebrate and share their music.


We first saw Collin on stage in 2018 during Tell a Story's bonfire night at Save Street Children Uganda.  The emotion in his music created chills,each string he hit was nothing but a story with a beautiful melody.


Well, Collin started his journey from playing the guitar during his free time and being in possession of a unique instrument called the Cajon. The Cajon is box shaped and its roots are from the land of Peru, an Espanola speaking community.


As my passion for music grew, the desire to create a safe space for independent musicians to harness their music potentials, meet and play their own compositions also increased..says Collin .  At that time I was a master at the guitar, I started playing with other music lovers, organizing fellowships at my place. Collin continues.


The Cajon was always the heart of many, commentaries on its appearance and how I played it was daily talk, before I knew it, my home and I had a new name “Cajon” haha. With time Cajon Music House was born. Collin adds

It is a very exciting experience, seeing young talented artists sing their hearts out, play guitars, pianos and drums till their very last drop.


I feel heart warmed seeing them have a place they call home, one that celebrates and appreciates their gift of music, offers them the platform to express themselves and sell their music.. We are increasing, it is an enormous feeling. 


As the number of solo artists keeps rising, so does the responsibility, there is greater need for more equipment, trainings and some artists join us with the expectation of making quick money. But we are pushing on, we are moving. He adds.

To the young people out there , Collin encourages you to dream big,  he goes on to say " Cajon is reaching a bigger audience because we dare ourselves to stretch so high more than our capabilities".  Be passionate, persistent and always clear about what you want.
