Meet Jacque Namwase as she talks about her company: Home Xtras.


 ABOUT ME
I am Jacque  Namwase, director of HomeXtras,  an agency that offers cleaning services for residential homes and offices. We also provide post construction, carpet & sofa washing , fumigation and compound maintenance.


GENESIS
I started my cleaning company after realizing that  my friends where too busy at work to clean their homes . The maids they left behind to do the work were at times inefficient.  I started voluntarily cleaning my friends homes ,  each time they needed extra deep cleaning for their homes.  I was available.

 From that experience, I realized there was a big need within my community , so I started charging for my services.  We are now a registered company😊. Jacque adds.

IMPACT
 HomeXtras allocates two days every month to sensitize  women and young girls in Kisaasi, a community I come from,  about the importance of  proper rubbish and waste management as a way of conserving the environment.


 We also teach them how to make liquid soap and cushions out of plastics bottles. These are later sold to generate income.

CHALLENGES
 When the country was locked down, we made a huge loss as a company , we still had running contracts, we were not earning,  the clients could not afford the services because paying a cleaning agency was now to a priority, some resorted  to cleaning their own homes as a result of working from home. It was a huge blow. Jacque says.

LEADERSHIP JOURNEY
 I have attended the Zimba Women Business Program which has positively shaped me to be a visionary leader.   We are now  looking at opening up HomeXtra's branches in Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania in the next 2-5 years. 

MESSAGE
To the young people out there, intending to be entrepreneurs, the biggest achievement you can do for you business is starting.  Start from where you are with whatever you have.  

Starting means, you get out of your comfort zone and talk to people about your business, print business cards and look for leads.  Do not worry about what is not there.  I started a cleaning company with nothing not even a squeezer😆.  But here I am. Two years in the business.
